01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Tucked into the streetscape of Futaba, Shinagawa, ambos coffee is a neighborhood stand pouring specialty coffees from roasters across Japan. Hand-drip options span light, medium, and dark roasts along with decaffeinated choices, with the lineup rotating on a regular basis. If you are unsure what to choose, the staff guide you through the flavor notes of each origin and roast level, making it easy to find a cup that fits how you feel that day.

For a closer look at what roasting brings out in a bean, comparing different roast degrees of the same lot—such as Bolivia Uchumachi—is an engaging option. Roasted light, the Uchumachi lot exhibits lime-like brightness alongside a brown sugar sweetness; roasted dark, it retains hints of pineapple while settling into cocoa-toned, gentle depth. Other selections include the sweet, aromatic house blend "Magico" and a Honduran decaf noted for orange acidity and caramel notes, giving you plenty of variety to match the hour and your mood.

Beyond drip coffee, chilled specialty drinks offer distinct twists. Beside a crisp cold brew tonic and fruity cascara tea, the infusion iced café au lait uses beans aged in whiskey barrels, delivering spirit-tinged aromatics and a sweet finish reminiscent of rum raisin.

The space also hosts occasional art exhibitions and pop-up events, adding another reason to visit. Whether dropping by for a takeaway cup during a walk or lingering at the counter to hear the story behind the pour, it is a comfortable place to pause.
